Joining forces with Bournemouth University's Bournemouth Writing Prize, the writing competition is for poems and short stories.
The Bournemouth Writing Festival is back with its 2025 Writing Competition, offering a platform for poets and storytellers from around the world. This year, the competition is open to submissions of poetry (three entries of up to 30 lines) and short stories (up to 3,000 words), inviting participants to showcase their creativity and storytelling skills.

A slot to perform your work at the festival’s Bourn Jammy event - a live music event where the band improvise their music to your words.

For 2025, the competition will be supporting The Outsider's Project - an arts organisation based in Bournemouth dedicated to giving voice to unheard and marginalised people sidelined from society to write, perform, and create work at the highest level. At the payment screen you are welcome to add a donation to fund their outstanding work and the competition will provide free entries to their artists.
