We've got free and ticketed writing activities, exercises and creative writing workshops especially for kids at Patch (1st Floor of Bobbys) on Saturday 26th April.

A workshop that focuses on storytelling for film, exploring ideas of conflict, character, theme, dialogue and visual storytelling.

Free drop-in activities for kids of all ages
Do you love writing and want to be immersed in words? ArtfulScribe is providing a range of free, bespoke interactive activities for children and young adults. Drop in and stay as long as you like while meeting others who love writing and reading books, too.
For Younger Writers (5+)

Listen to your favourite stories, read by one of the ArtfulScribe team.

Chill out in the reading corner in between activities.

Contribute to the giant Elmer the Elephant writing mural.

Name, colour and describe your very own monster and its superpowers.

Explore your inner dragon, its emotions and write a thank you letter in the style of a poem.
For older writers

Use the mystery box and learn how to ‘show not tell’.

Pick the brains of Bournemouth University’s MA students and gain advice on character, plot or how to come up with a convincing ending.

Make a visual display of your hands and describe what you love about writing.

Make up a spontaneous story with people in the room, one word at a time.

Contribute to a monster-long Frankenstory, written by every young person who joins us throughout the day.

We can’t wait to see you there on Saturday 26th April, from 10am until 5pm at Patch. There will even be prizes given to the most inspiring writers of the day, plus FREE Clipper Tea.

Lyrical Graffiti
Graffiti meets poetry in this creative explosion of words, color, and courage!
Step into a world where music lyrics, poetry, and street art collide!
Facilitated by the We Are Authentic Education Trust for an epic drop-in session where young creatives (ages 5-17) can play with words, experiment with urban art, and leave their mark on a massive collaborative mural.

Blackout Poetry Magic: Transform lyrics and stories into bold new creations using the coolest blackout poetry techniques.

Graffiti Meets Literature: Grab a Posca Pen and tag your words onto a giant, eye-catching mural that celebrates the theme of Courageous.

Be Part of Something Big: Your words will help shape a stunning community artwork that will stand as a tribute to bravery and creativity!
Year 5&6 students from Kinson Academy will have already made a start, so come along and contribute to their work.
