Competition Winners Anthology
Ice cream, lovers' initials traced inside sandy hearts and chip-snatching seagulls. Those were the tropes you might have expected from a creative writing competition inspired by the beaches of Bournemouth.
Instead, winning entries in the inaugural Bournemouth Writing Festival anthology took on a darker, more profound undercurrent.
From a love letter to a future ex-husband, via the shores of Gaza's Blue Beach, to an addict's yuletide prayer, these poems and stories dive into the hidden depths below the surface of humanity.
'Lines in the Sand' is an uncompromising and compelling mix of voices from around the world, leaving an indelible mark on the shifting sands of the literary landscape - and where even the seagulls get their comeuppance.
"Lines in the Sand" presents the cream of the crop—winners from the inaugural Poetry & Flash Fiction competition organised by the Bournemouth Writing Festival, carefully curated by Dithering Chaps with judges from Arts University Bournemouth.
Each piece reflects the diverse voices and perspectives of our world, offering a rich tapestry of emotions and insights.
